The 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, is set to lead the traditional Sallah horse-riding celebrations known as Hawan Daushe and Hawan Nassarawa on Thursday and Friday.
This was confirmed by Alhaji Aminu Babba Dan’agundi, the Sarkin Dawaki Babba and a senior palace official, who said security agencies have approved the cultural activities to go ahead peacefully.
According to him, the Hawan Daushe procession will begin on Thursday, with the Emir riding through parts of Kano city, but will avoid the main Emir’s Palace, which is currently occupied by the 16th Emir, Muhammadu Sanusi II.
He explained that approval had been secured from security authorities, and arrangements had been made to ensure a smooth and peaceful celebration.
Dan’agundi said the procession will start from the Nassarawa Emir’s Palace and move through Kofar Nassarawa before returning to the Emir’s residence.
He added that on Friday, the Hawan Nassarawa event will continue through major roads leading to Fagge and Mandawari, where the Emir will pause briefly to manage crowd control due to the large number of supporters expected.
He assured residents that the entire celebration will be conducted peacefully, stressing that supporters have been warned to avoid any actions that could cause tension or disturb public order.
