Several passengers were injured on Monday morning after a speeding Honda car crashed into two commercial tricycles along Ipaja Road in Lagos State.

The accident reportedly happened around 8:50 a.m. near the Federal Bus Stop area and involved a Honda vehicle with registration number KTU 921 JY.

Eyewitnesses at the scene said about 10 commuters sustained different levels of injuries during the collision, which caused panic among residents and road users in the area.

According to reports, the female driver of the Honda car was allegedly driving at high speed when she suddenly tried to avoid hitting a street sweeper working with the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA).

Witnesses claimed the vehicle struck the sweeper before the driver lost control, causing the car to veer into the opposite lane where it rammed into two commercial tricycles carrying passengers.

The impact of the crash left several victims seriously injured, while others escaped with minor wounds.

People around the scene immediately rushed to help the injured passengers before emergency responders arrived.

Sources said some victims were first taken to a nearby private hospital for urgent medical attention, while others were later transferred to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital for further treatment.

Officials of the Nigeria Police Force, operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), and local security personnel were later seen at the scene managing traffic and coordinating rescue efforts.

As of the time of filing this report, authorities had not released an official statement on the cause of the accident.
