Ademola Adeleke has ordered the immediate strengthening of security measures in schools across Osun State following recent kidnapping incidents reported in neighbouring Oyo State.
The directive was announced in an official statement released by the Osun State Government on May 17, 2026.
According to the statement, Governor Adeleke instructed the Ministry of Education, security agencies, and other relevant government bodies to reactivate and improve the Safe School Initiative to protect students and teachers across the state.
The governor reportedly expressed concern over the growing insecurity in some parts of the country and warned against allowing criminal activities to spread into Osun communities.
As part of the new security steps, Adeleke ordered increased surveillance and intelligence gathering around schools, especially those located in rural communities, border towns, and isolated areas considered vulnerable to attacks.
The governor also directed the Osun Amotekun Corps to work closely with peace-building organisations and other security partners currently supporting school safety operations in the state.
Speaking on the development, Adeleke assured parents, school management, and residents that his administration remains fully committed to protecting students and maintaining a safe learning environment.
He stated that the government had already begun implementing stronger security strategies to prevent any possible threat to schools across the state.
The governor further instructed his security adviser to immediately review and strengthen the existing school protection plan to ensure better safety for pupils and teachers.
