Saudi Professional League side Al-Nassr have reportedly made contact with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola over a possible move to become their next head coach.
According to Guardiola’s representative, the Saudi club reached out to explore the possibility of bringing the Spanish tactician to Saudi Arabia, where he would potentially manage Cristiano Ronaldo and other Al-Nassr stars.
Guardiola is said to have already confirmed plans to leave Manchester City at the end of the current season, which opened the door for early interest from other clubs.
His agent, Josep Maria Orobitg, explained that Al-Nassr’s approach came before the manager officially made up his mind about his next step after City.
Reports had suggested that Al-Nassr were ready to offer as much as €130 million per year to convince Guardiola to take the job, but his agent dismissed the figure as exaggerated.
Speaking to Okaz, Orobitg said the discussion was only an initial contact with no formal agreement or concrete offer on the table.
“There was contact about a month and a half ago, just contact, nothing official or binding. The money being mentioned is not correct,” he said.
He also added that Al-Nassr currently has no realistic chance of securing Guardiola, stressing that talks did not progress beyond early communication.
Further reports also claimed that there had been contact with Saudi football officials recently, but no serious negotiations are ongoing at the moment.
Guardiola is expected to leave Manchester City as one of the most successful managers in the club’s history, having won 20 major trophies during his time in England. He is also set to continue working with the City Football Group in a global ambassadorial role after his departure.
