Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk has revealed that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is expected to take on more responsibility at the club from next season.

Buruk said Osimhen has already earned huge respect in the dressing room because of his strong performances and goals, which helped Galatasaray secure a domestic double last season.

The 27-year-old forward has scored 20 goals across all competitions this campaign, playing a key role as the Turkish champions move closer to winning a fourth straight league title.

Reports also suggest that current captain Mauro Icardi is likely to leave the club at the end of the season, which could open the door for leadership changes.

Buruk hinted that Osimhen could be given a leadership role, saying discussions are ongoing within the club’s management about the captaincy structure.

He described Osimhen as a natural leader on the pitch, noting that he already acts like one of the team’s unofficial captains due to his influence and attitude.
