Victor Osimhen has been cleared to take part in Sunday’s highly anticipated Istanbul derby between Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe.
The Nigerian striker recently played in Galatasaray’s Turkish Cup loss to Gençlerbirliği, where he wore a protective arm brace after picking up an injury.
Following that match, Fenerbahçe lodged an official complaint to the Turkish Football Federation, arguing that the protective gear could pose a risk to other players.
However, the appeal was rejected. Authorities ruled that the brace was medically approved and cleared for use after proper consultation with relevant football officials.
Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe have already met once this season, with that encounter ending in a 1-1 draw.
Sunday’s derby is now expected to play a major role in the Turkish league title race. Galatasaray currently sit at the top of the table with a four-point lead over their closest challengers, Fenerbahçe.
