Activist and politician Omoyele Sowore has said that President Bola Tinubu is not different from other major Nigerian political leaders, including former President Goodluck Jonathan, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Sowore made the statement on Friday while speaking with journalists at the Federal High Court in Abuja after a court session in his ongoing cyberbullying case.
The court had earlier dismissed his no-case submission in the charge filed against him by the Department of State Services (DSS). The DSS accused Sowore of cyberbullying President Tinubu over comments he made on social media.
After the ruling, the court ordered him to open his defence.
Speaking to reporters outside the court, Sowore said that Nigeria’s top politicians are similar in their style of leadership, adding that none of them offer real change.
According to him, “Jonathan is not different from Tinubu, Tinubu is not different from Atiku, Atiku is not different from Obi or Kwankwaso. The truth is that we are the ones who are different, and that is what they are afraid of.”
He argued that the political class often resists ideas that challenge the current system, saying they all tend to operate in the same way once they get into power.
Sowore also said he believes many political alliances and party movements are only distractions meant to shift attention away from real national problems.
He added that keeping him in court is part of a wider strategy to silence his activism and slow down his political activities.
According to him, the intention from the beginning was to restrict his movements, including attempts to seize his passport and file repeated charges against him.
Sowore maintained that despite the legal challenges, he will continue speaking out, insisting that Nigeria needs genuine change rather than repeated cycles of the same political leadership.
