Governor Uba Sani has said that the Nigeria Labour Congress in Kaduna State is helping to build a more peaceful and cooperative relationship between workers and the state government.
The governor shared this message on Friday through his official Facebook page while marking the 2026 May Day celebration in Kaduna. The event was organised by the NLC alongside the Trade Union Congress to honour the role of workers in the development of the state.
According to him, the gathering brought together thousands of workers who have continued to contribute to the growth and progress of Kaduna. He noted that he was encouraged by the appreciation shown by labour leaders, who acknowledged the government’s efforts in key sectors.
Uba Sani explained that his administration has taken steps to improve healthcare and education. These include the upgrade of 255 primary healthcare centres, the renovation of general hospitals, the hiring of 10,000 teachers, and the employment of 1,800 health workers across the state.
He also pointed out that the government has paid about N17.796 billion to cover pensions, gratuities, and benefits for deceased workers. He described these payments as not just financial duties, but a moral responsibility to those who have served the state.
The governor further reminded workers of his long-standing support for labour movements, saying he has always stood for fairness, justice, and workers’ rights. He added that his administration will continue to focus on improving the wellbeing, dignity, and future of workers in Kaduna State.
