Afrobeats star Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, has been selected for induction into the 2026 Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia, United States.
Organisers announced his name as part of this year’s inductees ahead of the ceremony scheduled to take place on June 1 in Atlanta’s Historic Westside area.
The honour recognises influential figures in Black music and culture around the world, placing Davido among global entertainers who have made a strong impact on the industry.
This year’s list also includes American rapper Ludacris, gospel artist Paul S. Morton, and former Atlanta mayor Maynard Jackson, all being celebrated for their contributions to music, leadership, and cultural development.
Davido’s inclusion also adds him to the growing list of African stars recognised by the organisation, following in the footsteps of legendary Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti.
The Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame was created by the Black American Music Association together with the Georgia Entertainment Caucus. It honours individuals who have played major roles in shaping Black music and entertainment globally.
Honourees are permanently recognised with plaques placed along a walkway in Atlanta as a symbol of their cultural impact and legacy.
Davido’s recognition comes at a special time in his career, as he marks 15 years in the music industry.
He recently reflected on his journey in a post on X, writing: “God is the best of all planners! 15 years in da game.”
The singer, who was born in Atlanta, began his professional music journey in 2011. He first gained attention as part of the group KB International before launching his solo career.
He later released his debut album Omo Baba Olowo in 2012, which helped him break into the mainstream with the hit song “Dami Duro.”
Over the years, Davido has released several successful albums, including Omo Baba Olowo (2012), A Good Time (2019), A Better Time (2020), Timeless (2023), and 5ive (2025).
He has also earned multiple international nominations and awards, including three Grammy nominations at the 66th Grammy Awards in 2024, with Timeless nominated for Best Global Music Album.
