Nigeria international Esther Okoronkwo has returned to full training after spending several weeks on the sidelines with an injury.
The Super Falcons forward suffered a hamstring problem during AFC Toronto’s league match against Halifax in May, forcing her to miss a number of important games for both club and country.
The injury kept the 29-year-old out of AFC Toronto’s last five league fixtures, while she was also unavailable for Nigeria’s recent friendly matches against Senegal’s Teranga Lionesses.
Her return to training comes as a major boost for both AFC Toronto and the Super Falcons ahead of a busy period of competition.
Okoronkwo is now in contention to make her comeback when AFC Toronto face Montreal Roses in their next league game at York Lions Stadium on Saturday.
The striker remains one of the key players in the squad, having played an important role in AFC Toronto’s successful title-winning campaign last season.
With her recovery progressing well, fans will be hoping to see the experienced forward back on the pitch and producing the performances that have made her one of Nigeria’s most reliable attacking players.
