
A fire outbreak has destroyed a police station and three residential buildings in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The affected police station is located in Kara, within the Akinyele Local Government Area of the state.
According to reports, the fire also damaged a patrol vehicle, several motorcycles, and other valuables at the station.
In a separate development on Friday, three different residential buildings across Ibadan were also affected by fire incidents.
One of the buildings is located at No. 19 Omigade Street, Robert Junction in the Ososami area, where only the ground floor was affected.
Another fire incident was recorded in the Moniya area, while a third building was also affected in the Alakia axis of the city.
The Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, confirmed all the incidents.
Speaking on the police station fire, he explained that firefighters arrived quickly at the scene and found a patrol van and seven motorcycles already burning.
He said the fire service team acted fast and managed to stop the flames from spreading to the main police station building and nearby properties.
Akinwande also confirmed the residential fire cases, adding that fire officers responded promptly to each location and brought the situations under control.
