Rivers United have praised their players after finishing second in the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, describing the campaign as one filled with strong effort, discipline and determination.
The club, popularly called the Pride of Rivers, said the squad showed great resilience from start to finish and maintained a high level of performance throughout the season.
Despite narrowly missing out on the league title, Rivers United confirmed they still secured a place in next season’s CAF Champions League.
In a statement released at the end of the season, the club expressed pride in the team’s achievement, noting that finishing as runners-up and qualifying for continental football reflects their consistency and ambition.
The statement added that the players demonstrated unity and commitment, which helped them remain competitive until the final stages of the title race.
Rivers United also congratulated champions Enugu Rangers for winning the NPFL title, saying they accept the outcome with respect and sportsmanship.
While acknowledging that they missed out on the trophy, the club said their focus is now on improving the team, correcting mistakes and returning stronger in the next season.
They expressed confidence that with better preparation, the club will aim to bring the NPFL title back to Port Harcourt.
