Lobi Stars Chairman, Terver Ikya, has revealed plans to reshape the team ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria National League (NNL) season following their failure to gain promotion.

The Makurdi-based club missed out on a place in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after the just-concluded NNL campaign.

Speaking on the club’s next steps, Ikya said the management is set to rebuild the squad, with a focus on fresh talent and better structure.

He disclosed that five players will be promoted from the club’s U-19 team as part of efforts to strengthen the squad from within.

According to him, the total number of players in the team will not exceed 35, including those promoted from the youth side.

Ikya also stated that contracts of players signed before the current management took over will be cancelled as part of the restructuring process.

He explained that the decision is aimed at starting afresh and building a team that fits the vision of the new leadership.

The chairman further made it clear that player recruitment will be based strictly on the club’s needs, adding that he will not accept players imposed by external influences.

He stressed that he is ready to take full responsibility for the outcome of the new direction, expressing confidence that the changes will position the team for better performance in the next season.
