The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Samuel Ogbuku, has briefed President Bola Tinubu on the progress being made in completing long-standing development projects across the Niger Delta region.
Ogbuku gave the update after a meeting with the President at the State House in Abuja, where he restated the Commission’s commitment to delivering results in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the current administration.
The details of the meeting were later shared in a statement issued on Wednesday in Port Harcourt by the NDDC Director of Corporate Affairs, Seledi Thompson-Wakama.
According to Ogbuku, the Commission’s recent achievements have been supported by strong backing from the Presidency. He noted that President Tinubu has consistently encouraged the agency to focus on finishing ongoing and inherited projects that will directly benefit people in the region.
He highlighted some of the completed projects, including a 650-bed student hostel at Niger Delta University in Amassoma, Bayelsa State, as well as an electricity project in Oron, Akwa Ibom State.
Ogbuku also extended an invitation to the President to commission the completed projects, describing them as clear evidence of the government’s effort to drive development in the Niger Delta.
He added that several other major projects are nearing completion and will soon be ready for official inauguration. These include the Kaa–Ataba Road and Bridge in Rivers State, the Niger Delta Regional Specialist Hospital, and ongoing road construction in Ikot Ekpene.
He further revealed that progress is also being recorded on the 70.75km Omadino–Okerenkoko–Escravos Road and bridges project in Warri North Local Government Area, which is being executed in partnership with the Delta State Government and Chevron Nigeria Limited.
According to him, the collaboration between stakeholders is helping to speed up development and improve infrastructure across the region.
