Three officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have been killed after suspected bandits attacked them along the Tsamiya–Illo Road in Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
Security expert Zagazola Makama disclosed the incident in a post on Saturday, citing information from security sources in the area.
According to reports, the officers were on official duty when armed men suddenly ambushed them on the road.
The attackers, who were said to be riding on motorcycles, reportedly opened fire on the officers after they tried to escape on sighting them. All three personnel were killed in the attack.
The victims were identified as Deputy Chief Road Marshal Assistant Umar Aliyu, Senior Road Marshal Assistant Ezra Manu Gona, and Road Marshal Assistant I Mansur Ibrahim Nasir.
Security sources said the incident has caused tension in the area, with authorities advising staff operating along the route to remain cautious while further security checks are carried out.
As of the time of the report, the reason behind the attack had not been confirmed, while efforts were ongoing to track down those responsible.
Security agencies have since increased patrols and surveillance in the area in a bid to prevent further attacks and reassure residents of their safety.
