Musa Muhammad Kamarawa, a former Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to ex-Zamfara State Governor Bello Matawalle, has made a serious allegation that Abubakar Idris, popularly known as Dadiyata, was killed in his presence.
His claim, reportedly written in Hausa, has been circulating widely on social media as a screenshot.
Kamarawa had also earlier on Thursday submitted a petition to the Inspector General of Police, accusing some police officers of threatening his life.
Dadiyata, a university lecturer and vocal critic of government policies, was kidnapped from his home in Kaduna on August 1, 2019. Since then, he has not been seen, and his whereabouts remain unknown. His disappearance has long been linked to his outspoken criticism of political leaders, especially in northern Nigeria.
Political commentator Imran Wakili, who shared the development on X, said the new claim by Kamarawa should not be ignored, insisting it could help reopen investigations into what happened to Dadiyata.
He stressed that the allegation requires a full, open, and independent investigation to establish the truth.
Security analyst and counter-insurgency reporter in the North-West, Bakatsine, also reacted on social media, calling on authorities to take the claim seriously and investigate it thoroughly.
He described the allegation as a very serious matter involving forced disappearance and possible extrajudicial killing, adding that anyone found responsible should face justice.
Meanwhile, DAILY POST reports that Kamarawa also accused two senior police officers, CSP Hussaini Gimba and CSP Hassan Gimba, of extortion, illegal searches, seizure of property, and conducting what he described as an unfair investigation against him.
In his petition to the Inspector General of Police, he alleged that he was pressured during interrogation not to mention his links to the current Minister of State for Defence and former Zamfara Governor, Bello Matawalle.
He claimed the officers forced him to sign statements under duress and threatened him, even mentioning that people like Dadiyata and Saminu S/Fada Gusau had been killed.
Kamarawa further alleged that the officers focused their questioning on his relationship with former Sokoto State Governor, Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa, whom he described as their main target.
He said his experience raises serious concerns that require urgent investigation, especially given the claims he made while in custody.
