Rangers head coach Fidelis Ilechukwu has revealed that strengthening the team’s squad is now a top priority as preparations begin for the 2026/27 football season.
The experienced tactician recently put an end to uncertainty surrounding his future at the club after agreeing to a one-year contract extension on Saturday.
The new deal means Ilechukwu will continue to lead the Flying Antelopes as they gear up for another campaign in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and a return to continental competition in the CAF Champions League.
Rangers enjoyed a memorable season under Ilechukwu, winning their ninth NPFL title and re-establishing themselves among the country’s top clubs.
The league triumph also secured the Enugu-based side a place in Africa’s premier club tournament, marking their return to the continental stage after several years away.
Speaking about the club’s plans, Ilechukwu said the coaching crew and management are fully committed to building a stronger team capable of competing successfully both at home and across Africa.
He stressed that Rangers are determined to remain competitive and will continue working to improve the quality of the squad ahead of the demanding season.
With domestic and continental challenges on the horizon, the club is expected to make strategic additions to ensure they can compete effectively on multiple fronts.
