Nigeria’s sprint hurdler Tobi Amusan continued her strong form on the international stage after winning her second straight women’s 100m hurdles title of the season at the New Taipei Athletics Open in Taiwan.
The Nigerian star delivered another smooth and controlled performance, pulling away from home athletes Bo Ya Zhang and Yi Po-An, who finished behind her in second and third place.
Amusan crossed the finish line in a fast 12.72 seconds, setting a new meeting record in Taiwan and breaking the previous 12.80 seconds mark set last year by American athlete Nia.
From the start, Amusan looked calm and in full control. She eased through the heats comfortably and stepped up her performance in the final, finishing strongly while the rest of the field struggled to keep up, much to the excitement of the crowd.
She took charge of the race after clearing the fourth hurdle cleanly, opening a gap that her competitors could not close.
This latest victory adds to her recent winning run, coming just weeks after she also claimed gold at the Rabat Diamond League in Morocco.
The 29-year-old has now finished in the top two in her last three races, winning two of them, showing clear consistency in form this season.
Amusan is expected back on the track again on July 4 at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon, a venue where she famously set her world record of 12.12 seconds in 2022.
