United States President Donald Trump has confirmed that he has called off planned military strikes and air raids against Iran, following what he described as major progress in diplomatic talks.
In a statement shared on his Truth Social account on Thursday, Trump said the decision came after discussions with Iran reached the highest level of leadership and received approval in principle.
According to him, the ongoing negotiations have also involved several countries, including Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, and Egypt, all of which have reportedly agreed on key points of a proposed deal.
Trump explained that all parties have accepted the framework of the agreement in both concept and detail, although it is yet to be formally signed.
He also stated that a naval blockade targeting Iran will remain in place until the final agreement is completed and officially signed.
The US President added that the time and location for the signing ceremony will be announced soon.
In his words, he said the planned strikes were cancelled because diplomatic talks had reached an advanced stage and were now moving toward a final agreement.
The development marks a shift from military action to negotiations, as efforts continue to reach a formal resolution between the United States, Iran, and other involved nations.
