Tragedy in Plateau as Pregnant Woman, Nursing Mother, 3-Year-Old Die in Attack

A violent midnight attack on Ngbrran-Zongo village in Kwall District, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State has left several people dead and others injured, including women, children, and elderly residents.

According to a statement shared on Saturday by Joseph Chudu Yonkpa, the National Publicity Secretary of the Irigwe Youth Movement (IYM), the incident happened around midnight on Friday, 8th April 2026. He said armed attackers believed to be Fulani militias stormed the community and killed 11 people.

Among those killed were a pregnant woman who was seven months along, a nursing mother, and a three-year-old child. Other victims included men, women, youths, and a community leader.

Yonkpa also reported that many others sustained injuries during the attack. The injured victims include pregnant women, young children, and elderly persons who were unable to escape during the assault.

The attack has caused deep fear in the community, with many residents displaced and others receiving medical attention for their injuries.
