The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four men suspected to be members of a cult group and hired killers allegedly linked to a series of violent crimes in Ajanmgbadi, Ojo, and nearby communities.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement shared on the command’s official X (Twitter) page on Tuesday.
The suspects are Emmanuel Nwokolo, known as “Oblo,” 35; Ayola Israel, also called “Essy Pawpaw,” 39; Ebuka Nnamdi, 31; and Chinedu Okafor, 22.
According to the police, the suspects were picked up during a carefully planned intelligence operation at a hotel in the Ajanmgbadi area of Ojo Local Government Area.
Security operatives said early investigations connected the men to several violent attacks recorded in the area in recent times.
Police also revealed that a disturbing video showing the killing of unknown persons in Ajanmgbadi and surrounding communities was found on one of the suspects’ mobile phones.
During questioning, the suspects reportedly admitted to being members of the Aiye Confraternity and confessed to taking part in different violent attacks that had caused fear among residents.
Further searches by the police led to the recovery of two locally made pistols, one revolver gun, and 13 live bullets believed to have been used in their operations.
The command said investigations are still ongoing to uncover the full network behind the group and arrest other suspects who are still on the run.
Authorities also confirmed that the suspects will be taken to court once investigations are completed.
The Commissioner of Police praised the officers involved in the operation and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to fighting crime and protecting lives across Lagos State.
He assured residents that efforts are continuing to break up criminal gangs and bring all those involved in violent crimes to justice.
He also called on the public to stay alert and support the police by reporting useful and timely information that can help improve security in the state.
