Former President Goodluck Jonathan has reportedly failed to appear for the submission of his nomination form ahead of the 2027 presidential election, despite earlier announcements by a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
A PDP bloc reportedly aligned with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde had earlier scheduled Jonathan for screening as a presidential aspirant on Tuesday, raising expectations within the party.
He was also expected to submit his nomination form on Monday as part of the process leading up to the screening, but he did not show up at the designated venue.
The development was disclosed by PDP chieftain Lere Olayinka in a post shared on his official Facebook page.
According to him, members of the Turaki-led faction waited for the former president from morning until 4pm, expecting him to arrive and complete the nomination process.
He stated that by 4pm, Jonathan was still not present, forcing the organisers to announce an indefinite postponement of the submission exercise.
The situation has sparked fresh attention within the party, as different factions continue to disagree over arrangements for the 2027 presidential race.
