Former lawmaker and member of the African Democratic Congress, Abba Anas Adamu, has reportedly died while still in the hands of kidnappers, even after his family paid a ransom of N50 million for his release.
Adamu, who previously represented the Guri/Kirikasamma/Birniwa federal constituency in Jigawa State, was abducted along the Kaduna–Abuja highway at Rijana. He was said to have been kidnapped alongside his friend and political associate, Ali Tukur Gantsa, while they were travelling back to Kano State.
Sources said the kidnappers initially demanded N200 million but later reduced the ransom to N50 million after negotiations with the victim’s family.
Despite the payment, reports indicate that the kidnappers later informed Adamu’s son to come to a location where his father’s body was kept, confirming that he had died in captivity.
The news has thrown his family, friends, and political associates into deep mourning in Jigawa State, as condolences continue to pour in over the tragic incident.
