Diplomatic posting: Shehu Sani speaks on Fani-Kayode’s alleged transfer request

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has said that Femi Fani-Kayode personally requested to be moved from his ambassadorial posting in Germany to South Africa.

Sani made the comment on Thursday, noting that the request was based on personal reasons.

This follows earlier reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved the redeployment of Femi Fani-Kayode from Germany to South Africa as part of adjustments in Nigeria’s diplomatic postings.

Fani-Kayode, who is an ambassador-designate, reacted to rumours suggesting that his appointment had been rejected by the German authorities.

He strongly denied the claims, describing them as false, misleading, and damaging. According to him, the story was built on rumours and gossip aimed at embarrassing him, the Federal Government, and President Tinubu.

He further stated that the reports were completely fabricated and included “unreasonable” reasons for a rejection that never happened.

Responding to the situation, Shehu Sani posted on X that Fani-Kayode himself requested the change in posting, adding that the decision was for personal reasons only.
