A leading member of the African Democratic Congress, Rotimi Amaechi, has dismissed speculations linking him to a vice-presidential role under the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Amaechi made the clarification during an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, where he also spoke about the controversy surrounding the recently concluded ADC presidential primary.
The former Minister of Transportation insisted that nobody had approached him with any offer to become Atiku’s running mate.
According to him, people close to the party already understand the kind of response he would give if such a proposal was presented to him.
Amaechi also maintained his earlier claim that the presidential primary results were manipulated, saying he still believes the figures announced were “concocted.”
Despite his concerns over the conduct of the election, he confirmed that he remains a member of the ADC.
The party’s presidential primary ended with Atiku emerging as the winner after polling 1,855,787 votes.
Amaechi finished second with 509,397 votes, while Mohammed Hayatu-Deen secured 180,903 votes.
Following the announcement of the results, both Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen rejected the outcome of the primary, raising concerns over the credibility of the process.
