A total of 2,300 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members have been officially sworn in for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream 2 orientation programme in Anambra State.
The Anambra State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Pauline Ojisua, disclosed this during the opening ceremony, explaining that the new corps members include 1,080 males and 1,220 females.
She said the orientation camp has been fully prepared with necessary facilities and logistics to ensure a smooth and effective programme for participants.
According to her, the orientation course serves as the starting point of the one-year national service and is designed to prepare corps members for the responsibilities ahead.
She explained that over the next three weeks, participants will undergo training focused on discipline, patriotism, teamwork, and other skills needed for national development.
Activities at the camp will include military drills, physical exercises, and sports, all aimed at improving fitness, mental alertness, and unity among corps members.
Mrs Ojisua also highlighted the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, noting that it will help corps members gain practical skills that can support them after their service year.
She congratulated the newly deployed corps members and advised them to respect NYSC rules, obey security guidelines, and make good use of their time in Anambra State.
In his remarks, Governor Chukwuma Soludo encouraged the corps members to serve diligently and contribute positively to both the state and the country.
He was represented at the event by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth Development, Mr Ifeatu Emeodi, who also commended the NYSC leadership at both national and state levels.
The governor praised the state coordinator and her team for their commitment and professionalism, and reaffirmed his administration’s support for improving camp facilities to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for corps members.
Meanwhile, the oath of allegiance was administered by Justice O. M. Anyachebelu, represented by Justice A. O. Nwabunike, marking the official commencement of the service year for the new corps members.
