The Nigeria Democratic Congress has denied reports claiming that some aspirants are being stopped from taking part in the party’s ongoing primary elections across the country.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director Esq., the NDC said every aspirant who successfully passed the screening exercise has been officially cleared to contest in the primaries.
The party stressed that no state chapter, official, or group has the authority to block any cleared aspirant from participating in the process.
According to the statement, any attempt to stop eligible aspirants from contesting is invalid and goes against the party’s rules and guidelines.
The NDC reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, fairness, accountability, and equal opportunity, describing itself as a progressive political platform that believes in inclusive participation.
The party also warned its members and officials at all levels against actions capable of undermining the credibility of the primaries.
It directed party leaders nationwide to ensure that the exercise is conducted peacefully and in line with the party’s constitution and electoral guidelines.
The NDC further announced that its presidential, governorship, National Assembly, and State Assembly primaries will take place nationwide on May 29, 2026.
The party clarified that while State Assembly primaries will hold within individual constituencies, all other categories of primaries will be conducted at the local government level as earlier announced.
