Singer Portable in car accident during trip to his child’s naming ceremony [VIDEO]

Controversial Nigerian street singer, Portable, has been involved in a single-car accident just a night before his newborn baby’s naming ceremony.

The incident reportedly happened on Thursday night in Ogun State while the singer was preparing for the family celebration. According to him, the accident occurred after his car developed brake failure.

Portable said he narrowly escaped death after he made a quick decision to steer the vehicle into a ditch to avoid crashing into another car.

In a video shared on his Instagram story, the singer expressed gratitude for surviving the crash.

He said, “My fans, thank God for me. I was just driving out this evening when the accident happened. Nothing happened to me, I came out without injury. I suddenly noticed the brakes failed. My people have come to the scene, I thank God they are not here to carry my body.”

He added that he had already prepared for his son’s naming ceremony, including buying two cows for the event, but said he was grateful the accident did not happen while a heavy vehicle was passing on the road.

Portable’s naming ceremony preparations had already generated attention online, including reports that he shared free ankara outfits (aso ebi) with fans and well-wishers ahead of the event.

It was also reported that his partner, Bewaji, gave birth during his boxing match with Carter Efe on Friday, May 1, 2026.
