Pate apologises to supporters, confirms he will not join Bauchi 2027 governorship race
The Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Muhammad Ali Pate, has apologised to his supporters in Bauchi State for deciding not to contest the 2027 governorship election.
In a video message shared on Sunday night, Pate expressed regret to residents and supporters who had expected him to join the race for governor. He said he understands their disappointment and thanked them for their continued support.
He explained that his focus remains on national service and improving healthcare delivery across Nigeria. According to him, key areas of attention include maternal health, child healthcare, and better access to surgical services.
Pate also reaffirmed his support for the government of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, backing his re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said leadership positions are determined by God and promised to continue supporting efforts that will bring progress to Bauchi State, even if he is not on the ballot.
The minister also advised young people in the state to stay away from violence, political thuggery, and other activities that could damage their future. He warned that such behaviour could stop them from becoming responsible leaders in the future.
Pate called on citizens to support the All Progressives Congress in the upcoming elections and to work for victory across all positions in the state.
He urged party members and delegates to choose credible candidates who are focused on development rather than those who try to influence support with money.
According to him, Bauchi State needs leaders who can deliver real development and improve the lives of the people.
He stressed that allowing the wrong candidates into power would slow down progress and affect the future of the state negatively.
