Former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has firmly denied reports suggesting that he is planning to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Social Democratic Party (SDP) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The clarification was contained in a statement released by his media aide, Femi Awogboro, following widespread speculation circulating on social media.
According to the statement, claims that Adelabu had finalized arrangements to join the SDP are completely untrue and should be disregarded by the public.
The rumours, which gained attention online, alleged that the former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) was preparing to abandon the ruling APC for another political platform.
Responding to the reports, Adelabu described the claims as misleading and lacking any factual basis.
He maintained that he remains a dedicated member of the APC and has no intention of leaving the party.
The former minister stated that the rumours were deliberately created to confuse the public and stir unnecessary political controversy.
He stressed that attempts to portray him as someone considering a defection are far from reality and do not reflect his current political position.
Adelabu further reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC, insisting that no amount of speculation, propaganda or political maneuvering would affect his commitment to the party.
He also criticized those behind the reports, accusing them of trying to create a false political narrative for attention and publicity.
The statement urged party supporters and members of the public to ignore the rumours and rely only on verified information regarding his political activities.
With discussions around the 2027 elections gradually gathering momentum, Adelabu’s camp insists that he remains fully aligned with the APC and has not held any talks about joining another party.
