AFC Bournemouth defender Alex Jiménez is currently facing an internal investigation over allegations that he sent inappropriate messages to a 15-year-old schoolgirl.
The 21-year-old is accused of exchanging a series of messages with the minor, prompting concern after the claims surfaced online.
In response, Bournemouth confirmed that the situation is being looked into and that the player has been removed from the squad for their Premier League match against Fulham on Saturday.
The club released a short statement saying it is aware of social media posts involving right-back Alex Jiménez and has begun an investigation into the matter.
It added that due to the seriousness of the allegations, Jiménez will not take part in the upcoming fixture, and no further comment will be made while the process continues.
Jiménez joined Bournemouth in February on a long-term deal after arriving from AC Milan, initially on loan with an obligation to buy.
Before moving to England, the Spain Under-21 international developed at Real Madrid Castilla, the reserve team of Real Madrid, before later joining Milan.
The club has not given further details as the investigation remains ongoing.
