The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, and Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, are currently in a private meeting aimed at resolving political tensions within the state.
The closed-door meeting is taking place at the Benue State Government House and is part of efforts to end the ongoing disagreement within the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress.
The talks were held following a directive from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who asked both leaders to settle their differences quickly and maintain unity within the party.
Although the meeting was originally planned for Thursday, April 30, 2026, it was later shifted and is now holding on Sunday, May 3, 2026.
The gathering brings together key political figures from the state, including about 10 elders and stakeholders aligned with Akume, members of the Benue State House of Assembly, federal lawmakers from Benue, and other government appointees from the state.
The discussions are part of wider efforts to calm rising political tension and strengthen cooperation among APC leaders in Benue State.
