Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to supporting the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and meeting all responsibilities required by the scheme.
He made this known during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II corps members posted to Bauchi State for their one-year mandatory national service.
The governor stated that Bauchi remains fully committed to the goals of the NYSC programme, adding that his administration will continue to work closely with the scheme to ensure everything runs smoothly.
According to him, the NYSC plays a key role in national growth and unity. He encouraged the corps members to take their service year seriously and see it as an opportunity to make a positive impact in their host communities and across the country.
Mohammed also advised them to actively participate in the orientation programme and maintain discipline, reminding them that the nation is counting on their contribution.
Earlier, the NYSC State Coordinator, Umoren Kufre, praised the governor for his consistent support. He highlighted recent improvements at the orientation camp, including the renovation of hostels, construction of a multipurpose hall, and repairs to damaged parts of the perimeter fence.
He noted that these efforts have improved safety and living conditions for corps members, showing the government’s concern for their welfare.
Kufre further revealed that about 1,700 corps members were deployed to Bauchi State for the service year. He expressed confidence that they would carry out meaningful community development projects that would benefit their host communities.
The oath of allegiance was administered by Justice Aliyu Idris, who represented the Chief Judge of Bauchi State, Justice Rabi Talatu, at the ceremony.
