The Benin Republic U-17 women’s national team, known as the Young Amazons, have begun preparations for their final 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifying clash against Nigeria’s Flamingos.
The squad is currently in camp at the Missérété Excellence Centre as they step up training ahead of the decisive fixture.
Head coach Idah Azonsou has called up 30 players for the final phase of preparation, with plans to reduce the squad before the two-legged encounter against Nigeria.
The Young Amazons will face a tough test against the Flamingos, who will host the first leg at the Remo Stars Sports Complex on Saturday, July 4.
The return leg is scheduled to take place a week later in Kégué, where the final outcome of the qualification battle will be decided.
The team that comes out on top over the two matches will secure a place at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.
Both sides are expected to intensify preparations as they aim to book their ticket to the global tournament.
