Nollywood actors, gospel singers, and several well-known public figures came together on Wednesday for the service of songs held in honour of the late Alex Ekubo.

The emotional ceremony took place on June 10 at the Monarch Event Centre in Lekki, Lagos State, and attracted a large crowd of celebrities, religious leaders, and dignitaries.

Among the notable guests was former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, who joined other attendees to pay tribute to the late actor.

The event also featured powerful ministration from respected clerics, including Pastors Ituah Ighodalo and Jerry Eze. Popular gospel artists such as Peterson Okopi, Ebuka Songs, Moses Bliss, Mercy Chinwo, and the Laud Urban Choir also led worship sessions.

The Nollywood industry was strongly represented, with stars like Funke Akindele, Dayo Amusan, Kate Henshaw, Omoni Oboli, Nancy Isime, Ini Edo, Blessing Nze, and Ruth Kadiri in attendance. Others included Ike Ogbonna, Stan Nze, Kunle Remi, Mike Godson, comedian AY, Yomi Casual, Frank Edoho, Cubana Chief Priest, Kcee, E-Money, Chike, and Nambam.

According to reports, Alex Ekubo passed away on May 11, 2026, at a hospital in Lagos after battling advanced kidney cancer for a long period.

He will be laid to rest on June 18, 2026, in his hometown, Ujari Village, Abia State.
