British police have arrested three people as investigations continue into the death of British-Nigerian musician Mark Orabiyi, who was fatally stabbed in London.
The 35-year-old artist was reportedly attacked at a home on Rayleigh Road on Friday, where he suffered multiple knife wounds.
Emergency services responded quickly after receiving reports of the incident. Police officers and paramedics arrived at the property and found Orabiyi seriously injured in the garden. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said formal identification procedures are still ongoing, but the victim has been confirmed as Mark Orabiyi. Family liaison officers have been assigned to support his relatives during the investigation.
In a heartfelt statement, family members described him as a loving son, brother, uncle and friend whose kindness and talent touched many lives.
“Mark was a source of happiness to everyone around him. He had a warm heart, a generous spirit and a gift for bringing people together. He will be deeply missed,” the family said.
Police confirmed that two men and one woman were taken into custody shortly after the incident.
A 27-year-old man was later released on bail while investigations continue. Another man, aged 24, and a 25-year-old woman were released after questioning, with no further action currently being taken against them.
Investigators also revealed that a second victim, a 20-year-old man, was injured during the attack. He suffered multiple stab wounds and was taken to hospital, but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke, who is leading the case, described the killing as a tragic loss and appealed to the public for information.
She urged anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident, or who may have captured CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage, to come forward and assist investigators.
“Our thoughts are with Mark’s family and friends during this difficult time. We are working hard to establish exactly what happened and we encourage anyone with useful information to contact us,” she said.
Police say enquiries are still ongoing as detectives continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding the deadly attack.
