Afrobeats singer Qing Madi has accused her former record label boss, Joy Tongo, CEO of JTon Music, of forging her signature and stealing from her during their ongoing dispute.
The “American Love” singer made the allegations while reacting to the removal of several songs from her new album Barely Legal from streaming platforms, which she claims was done by her former label over a supposed contract issue.
During a recent TikTok livestream, Qing Madi alleged that the label is trying different ways to damage her career after she reportedly won a $2 million lawsuit filed against her by the company.
She said the record label has continued to interfere with her music releases and described their actions as attempts to frustrate her progress in the industry.
According to her, the situation has become exhausting and unfair, and she called on fans to speak out against what she described as ongoing injustice.
Qing Madi also alleged that her former boss engaged in several wrongful acts, including forging her signature and trying to sabotage her work.
“She stole from me and did a lot of strange things like forging my signature. She sued me for $2 million and lost the case. They took down ‘Pepper Me,’ and I had to work with my team to prove it was an illegal removal. Now they are still finding ways to bring down my project,” she said.
Meanwhile, Joy Tongo has denied all allegations made by the singer, describing them as false and misleading.
She insisted that she did not forge Qing Madi’s signature or steal any money from her, adding that the legal dispute between both parties is still ongoing and has not yet been concluded in court.
Tongo further explained that the injunction in place allows the label to take down certain songs legally, contrary to Qing Madi’s claims.
“The case is still in progress, it has not gone to trial. So what case have you won?” she stated in a post shared on Instagram.
