Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has approved three major laws aimed at strengthening the state’s energy sector, boosting agricultural productivity, and improving environmental management.
The new legislation includes the Kaduna State Electricity Law 2026, the Kaduna State Agricultural Development Fund (KADFund) Law 2025, and the Kaduna State Climate Change Advisory Board Law 2026.
According to a statement released by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, the laws are designed to create a strong foundation for economic growth, sustainable development, and improved living conditions for residents.
The Deputy Chief of Staff on Legal and Legislative Matters, Mustapha Musa, described the package as one of the most significant reform efforts introduced by the administration.
He explained that the new laws are intended to expand access to electricity, encourage investment in agriculture, improve climate resilience, and create stronger institutions capable of driving long-term development.
One of the key pieces of legislation, the Kaduna State Electricity Law 2026, establishes an independent regulatory commission that will oversee electricity generation, transmission, distribution, and supply within the state.
The law is also expected to attract private investors, encourage renewable energy projects, and improve access to reliable power for homes and businesses.
The KADFund Law 2025 introduces a dedicated funding system to support farmers, agricultural cooperatives, agribusiness operators, and other players in the agricultural value chain.
Through grants, low-interest loans, technical support, and infrastructure investments, the fund aims to increase food production, improve farming activities, and strengthen food security across Kaduna State.
In addition, the Kaduna State Climate Change Advisory Board Law 2026 creates a framework for addressing climate-related challenges and promoting environmental sustainability.
The board will help coordinate climate action, attract climate financing, and ensure environmental considerations are included in government development plans.
Government officials say the three laws reflect the administration’s determination to build a more resilient economy, create opportunities for citizens, and position Kaduna as a leader in innovation and sustainable governance.
The reforms are also expected to improve food security, increase investment opportunities, raise living standards, and support the state’s vision for long-term prosperity and economic competitiveness.
