A 30-year-old female event decorator, Ms. Esohe Aigbe, has been killed in Benin City, Edo State, in a violent attack by unknown persons.
The incident happened on Ojo Street in the Ogida area of Egor Local Government Area, according to reports gathered on the case.
It was learned that the deceased had visited the area to assist a friend with free decoration work for a funeral ceremony before the tragic incident occurred.
Sources said she had already completed her assignment and was still around the venue when she was suddenly attacked by unidentified individuals.
Eyewitness accounts and family members said the attackers severely injured her and left her lying in a pool of blood.
She was quickly taken to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) for treatment, but doctors were unable to save her life.
Her relatives described her as a hardworking young woman and a key supporter of her family whose life was cut short while doing her job.
They said she was well respected in the community for her decoration work, especially at funeral and social events.
“She was calm, dedicated, and very committed to her work. Everyone knew her for doing quality decoration jobs,” a family source said.
The family has called on security agencies to ensure the attackers are identified and brought to justice.
They also urged anyone with useful information to assist the police investigation.
Meanwhile, the Edo State Police Command confirmed the incident through its spokesperson, ASP Eno Ikoedem, adding that one suspect has already been arrested as investigations continue.
