Babagana Zulum has reassured residents of Mussa community in Askira Uba Local Government Area that everything possible is being done to rescue the 48 schoolchildren abducted by gunmen.
The governor gave the assurance on Tuesday when he visited Uba town to sympathise with families and community members affected by the incident.
During the visit, Zulum expressed sadness over the attack and extended his condolences to the Emir of Uba, parents of the kidnapped children, and residents of the area.
He stated that the Federal Government of Nigeria, security agencies, and the Borno State Government are working together to ensure the safe return of all the victims.
According to the governor, additional security personnel, including soldiers and police officers, have already been deployed to strengthen security and support ongoing rescue operations in the area.
Zulum also promised to improve security across Askira, Uba, and nearby communities to help prevent future attacks.
He appealed directly to the abductors to release the children, describing them as innocent young students who deserve care, protection, and the opportunity to continue their education peacefully.
Speaking during the governor’s visit, Ali Ibn Isma’ila Mamza II revealed that the abduction took place on Friday, May 15, in Mussa community.
The traditional ruler disclosed that the victims include 37 primary school pupils, six secondary school students, and five other residents of the community.
