Isa Pantami has officially withdrawn from the governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State.
The former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy announced his decision on Tuesday through a statement released by Barrister Ibrahim M. Attahir on behalf of the Pantamiyya Movement.
According to the statement, Pantami pulled out of the race over alleged violations of the Electoral Act 2026 and concerns about the credibility of the primary election process.
He also accused the APC leadership in the state of failing to provide important information needed to ensure a free, fair, and transparent governorship primary.
The statement further revealed that letters earlier sent by Pantami’s legal team to party officials regarding issues surrounding the exercise were allegedly ignored and received no official response.
Pantami maintained that democratic processes must strictly follow the law and party guidelines to protect the integrity of elections.
“In a democracy, the law must guide the process. Non-compliance with the Electoral Act 2026 and party rules makes the exercise questionable and unreliable,” the statement noted.
His withdrawal is expected to generate fresh political discussions within APC circles in Gombe State ahead of the governorship primaries.
