The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four suspected cult members and recovered firearms and ammunition during a targeted security operation in the Ajanmgbadi area of Ojo Local Government Area.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement released on June 2, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi.
According to the police, the suspects — identified as Emmanuel Nwokolo (also known as Oblo), Ayola Israel (popularly called Essy Pawpaw), Ebuka Nnamdi, and Chinedu Okafor — were picked up inside a hotel in Ajanmgbadi after credible intelligence was received by the command.
Preliminary findings suggest the suspects are linked to cult-related violence and other criminal activities troubling Ajanmgbadi and nearby communities.
The police further revealed that during the investigation, officers recovered a disturbing video on one of the suspects’ mobile phones, allegedly showing the killing of unknown victims.
The suspects reportedly confessed during interrogation that they are members of the Aiye Confraternity and admitted involvement in several violent attacks and killings in the area.
“The suspects confessed to being members of the Aiye Confraternity and admitted to terrorising residents through killings and other violent crimes,” the police statement said.
In a follow-up search operation, officers recovered two locally made pistols, one revolver pistol, and 13 live cartridges believed to have been used in their activities.
The command said the investigation is still ongoing to uncover the full extent of the group’s operations and identify other members who may be involved.
Police added that once investigations are completed, the suspects will be charged to court.
