The entertainment industry is mourning the loss of actress Daveigh Elizabeth Chase, best known as the voice of Lilo in Disney’s beloved animated movie Lilo & Stitch. She passed away at the age of 35.
The sad news was confirmed by her longtime manager, John Ryan Jr., in a statement to BBC News.
According to Ryan, Chase had been receiving treatment in a Los Angeles hospital after experiencing serious health complications. She was initially hospitalized due to severe malnutrition, but her condition later worsened.
Her manager revealed that the actress developed meningitis and multiple bloodstream infections during her stay in the hospital. She eventually died from sepsis, a life-threatening condition caused by the body’s extreme response to infection.
Paying tribute to the late actress, Ryan described her as a humble and kind-hearted person who stayed away from the spotlight despite her success in Hollywood.
“She was an amazing person. She loved cats and spent time helping with cat rescue efforts. She preferred a quiet life and never cared much for the Hollywood lifestyle,” he said.
Ryan added that Chase enjoyed simple things and often chose a peaceful evening at home over celebrity events and public attention.
Born on July 24, 1990, Daveigh Chase started her acting career at a very young age. She landed her first major role as a child and quickly became one of Hollywood’s most recognizable young talents.
Many fans remember her for lending her voice to Lilo in Disney’s hit movie Lilo & Stitch, a role that made her a favorite among children around the world. She also gained widespread recognition for her performance in the popular horror film The Ring.
