The faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) loyal to former Senate President David Mark has appealed to the Chief Justice of Nigeria over the ongoing leadership dispute in the party, asking for a faster hearing at the Supreme Court.
In a letter dated April 28, the group urged the Chief Justice, Olukayode Ariwoola, to set up a panel of the Supreme Court to urgently hear and decide the case involving the party’s leadership crisis.
The group said the long-running legal battle has created confusion within the party and is affecting its unity, activities, and preparation for future political events.
They stressed that the situation needs quick judicial attention in order to restore order and stability within the party.
According to the letter, delays in resolving the matter are already causing harm to members of the party across the country.
The faction also asked the Chief Justice to use his constitutional authority to ensure that the case is handled quickly at the highest court in the land.
The ADC leadership crisis has been ongoing for some time, with different groups laying claim to the control and structure of the party.
The dispute has led to several court cases, as rival factions continue to fight over who has the right to lead and manage the party’s affairs.
