The Kano State House of Assembly has officially approved the appointment of Murtala Sule Garo as the new Deputy Governor of Kano State.

His confirmation came after a screening exercise conducted by lawmakers during a plenary session presided over by Speaker Jibril Isma’il Falgore.

The report of the screening committee was presented by the Deputy Speaker and chairman of the ad hoc committee, Muhammad Bello, who explained that Garo was nominated following the resignation of former Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo.

He noted that the process was carried out under Section 191(3)(c) of the 1999 Constitution, which allows the state assembly to approve a replacement when a vacancy occurs in the office of deputy governor.

According to the committee, Garo underwent a detailed screening where lawmakers questioned him on his educational background, work experience, knowledge of governance, and his plans for the development of Kano State. His documents and credentials were also properly verified.

The committee added that the nominee demonstrated a good understanding of the responsibilities of the office and outlined plans to support Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in running the state government.

After reviewing the findings, the committee recommended his confirmation, and the House unanimously adopted the report, officially approving him as Deputy Governor of Kano State.
