Former Manchester United winger Antonio Valencia has tipped Sweden striker Viktor Gyökeres as one of the players who could challenge for the 2026 World Cup Golden Boot.

Valencia made the prediction after Gyökeres delivered a standout performance, scoring and inspiring Sweden to a convincing 5–1 win over Tunisia in their opening World Cup match.

Speaking to Hajper, the ex-Ecuador international said the forward has the quality and form to compete among the tournament’s top scorers.

He said, “I can see Viktor Gyökeres fighting for the Golden Boot. He has had a very good season and performed well in the Champions League, but there are also many other strong players in the competition.”

Gyökeres will now look to continue his strong start when Sweden take on the Netherlands in their next group match on Saturday.

The striker, who recently enjoyed a brilliant season at Arsenal, played a key role in helping the club win the Premier League title and reach the Champions League final, further boosting his reputation as one of Europe’s most dangerous forwards.

With his current form and growing confidence, expectations are rising that Gyökeres could be one of the standout players at the tournament.
