Popular media personality Daddy Freeze has stirred reactions online after questioning gospel singer and pastor Nathaniel Bassey over comments he made during the memorial event of late actor Alex Ekubo.

Speaking during an Instagram live session over the weekend, Daddy Freeze criticized the pastor’s account of his planned visit to the actor before his death.

During Alex Ekubo’s service of songs held last week, Nathaniel Bassey shared that he had never met the actor personally. However, he explained that a pastor friend contacted him and invited him to visit the actor in the hospital to pray and minister to him.

According to Bassey, the visit was scheduled for a Tuesday, but Alex sadly passed away on Monday, a day before the planned meeting. Despite the actor’s death, he said he still honoured the arrangement by visiting the family the next day to pray and offer support.

Reacting to the story, Daddy Freeze questioned why the pastor did not use the opportunity to demonstrate the miracles and healing testimonies often associated with his ministry.

The broadcaster said he expected a stronger display of faith, especially considering the many reports of healing and miraculous interventions regularly shared by Christian ministers.

Freeze also referred to Nathaniel Bassey’s appearance at the event, where he played the trumpet before addressing mourners. He argued that the situation raised questions about miracle claims frequently promoted by religious leaders.

His remarks have since generated discussions on social media, with many Nigerians expressing different opinions on faith, healing, miracles and the role of religious leaders during difficult moments.
