Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has paid a solidarity visit to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, in Ibadan following the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of the state.
The visit took place on Sunday at Makinde’s private residence, where Bala Mohammed was accompanied by leaders of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), including the party’s National Chairman, Alhaji Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, and its Bauchi governorship candidate, Dr Yakubu Adamu.
During the visit, Governor Mohammed expressed sympathy to the Oyo State government and families affected by the kidnapping incident, describing it as a painful situation that requires urgent national attention.
He also used the opportunity to call for a thorough review of Nigeria’s security structure, stressing the need for stronger coordination among security agencies and better collaboration with local communities to improve intelligence gathering and response.
According to him, insecurity in the country is being driven by a mix of factors, including poverty, weak governance systems, and economic challenges.
Mohammed urged Nigerians to remain alert and avoid actions that could support criminal groups, such as sharing sensitive information that could aid their activities.
He further emphasized the importance of credible leadership at all levels of government, saying it is essential for addressing both security and development issues across the country.
The Bauchi governor commended Makinde’s efforts in handling the situation and expressed optimism that the abducted students and teachers would be safely rescued.
He also praised Makinde’s leadership style and described him as a focused and energetic public servant.
