Former Edo State governor and lawmaker representing Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, has said there are clear differences in the leadership and decision-making styles of President Bola Tinubu and former President Muhammadu Buhari, both of whom belong to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking on The Mic On Podcast on Sunday, Oshiomhole argued that Tinubu’s approach to governance is different and more independent compared to the previous administration.
He also reflected on the 2022 presidential campaign period, recalling that he had publicly stated that Tinubu would not base his campaign on the record of the Buhari-led government.
According to him, Tinubu chose to present himself as a separate political figure rather than building his campaign on the achievements or shortcomings of the former administration.
Oshiomhole explained that Tinubu was not directly involved in Buhari’s government and did not have the opportunity to appoint officials during that period, which made his political direction distinct.
He added that while Tinubu has a respectful relationship with his predecessor, his style of leadership and thinking process is more independent and strategic.
The APC chieftain further noted that as a statesman, Tinubu could not publicly distance himself from Buhari, but observers like himself are able to clearly point out the differences in their approaches.
Oshiomhole maintained that these differences reflect the unique way both leaders handle governance and policy direction despite belonging to the same political party.
