Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has openly criticised the Federal Government over what she described as its response to the growing security challenges facing Nigerians.
The actress expressed concern about the increasing cases of insecurity across the country, arguing that the issue goes beyond the crimes themselves and extends to how authorities respond to them.
In a post shared on her Instagram page, Jegede questioned the level of urgency and compassion being shown by those in leadership, saying many citizens feel abandoned whenever tragic incidents occur.
According to her, while crime exists in different parts of the world, the major concern for Nigerians is the widespread belief that victims often receive little or no support after being attacked, kidnapped, or affected by violence.
She stressed that the feeling of helplessness among citizens has become a serious issue, with many people fearing that no meaningful effort would be made to locate or rescue them if they fell into danger.
The actress also pointed out that insecurity in Nigeria affects people from different backgrounds, insisting that the crisis is not limited to any tribe, religion, social class, or region.
Jegede urged leaders to place greater value on the lives and welfare of citizens, emphasizing that Nigerians deserve protection, empathy, and a government that responds swiftly to their concerns.
Her comments have added to the growing public debate about security, with many Nigerians continuing to call for stronger measures to address kidnapping, banditry, and other violent crimes across the country.
